BLACKWELL PRIMARY SCHOOL
"Unlocking Potential, Providing Opportunities, Achieving Goals"
Restart a Heart Day
Thank you to East Midlands Ambulance Service and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue who visited school as part of "Restart a Heart" day. All the children had the chance to learn CPR and other valuable life saving skills. They also enjoyed checking out the fire engine!
Mr Fox, Amy, Jen and Kelly have been hard at work preparing the bottles for the Eco Greenhouse.
Congratulations to our school tag rugby team for their masterful performance at the Tibshelf Tag Rugby Megafest!
Also, well done to our girls football team who secured third place at the Shirebrook tournament - we are very proud of you all!
RHS Level 5 achievement!
Our RHS Schools Five Star gardening school plaque and goodies have arrived. The children are so proud of their achievement. Thank you to everyone that has helped us achieve this award along the way!
Blackwell Primary have sponsored a well to provide potable water to a disadvantaged community in the eastern uplands of Zimbabwe. The children have learnt how important it is to have access to clean water and are so happy to have helped!
Food for Life &
Blackwell has officially achieved the Bronze Award for Food for Life. We have worked very hard to improve our awareness and opportunities for pupils to learn all about food, where it comes from and how to maintain sustainability.
We will now be working hard towards our Silver Award. To do so, we have established a link with Chatsworth House and Farm Park - more information about this exciting partnership will follow soon!
It is always great to see parents and grandparents in school. If you have time and would like to support the children with reading, swimming or on trips, then please contact us. We would love to use your many talents and give you the opportunity to share your skills and experiences with our children.
Tesco Bags of Help - WINNERS!
Thanks to all of your help in our school community and in Blackwell village, we won first place in the final voting for the Tesco Bags of Help scheme! This means the school will receive £4,000 which we will be using to create a STEM lab in Mrs Gardner's old classroom.
The STEM room has now been decorated and furniture delivered - a big thank you to Mr Earl and the Costain group for their generosity. Thank you also to HW Martin who gave their time and a van for us to collect our new furniture.
The NSPCC visited Blackwell to run workshops and a special assembly for all the children in school, on the theme of "Speak Out, Stay Safe". Thank you for coming to see us - we had a great time!
