Pumpkin Decorating - October 2017
The Buddies helped us decorate nearly fifty pumpkins - some were taken home and the others stayed to decorate our Spooktacular disco. Thank you and well done to everybody who took part - some of the designs were so very creative - and who knew that unicorn shaped pumpkins would be so popular?
Christmas Fair - December 2016
The Christmas Fair was once again a great success! We had a huge number of stalls including competitions, work and special Christmas Creations made by children in class. We also had a very special visitor in Santa's Grotto!
The school raised the amazing total of £590.02, thank you so much to everybody who contributed and attended, it was wonderful to see so many of you there.
Special thanks also to Mrs Marshall-Curtis and Mrs Gordon for all their hard work in organising the fair!
Events - Autumn Term 2019
This term, the Buddies have hosted the following events:
The Great Blackwell Bake Off - tasting fabulous creations produced by all our year groups in aid of the Macmillan Coffee Afternoon. We were very impressed with the quality and the technical skill shown by all the entries!
Macmillan Coffee afternoon - raising money for a fantastic cause that is close to our hearts at Blackwell.
Pumpkin Decorating - our annual pumpkin decorating event, always very popular, reached new heights this year with more than sixty pumpkins given the full sparkle. We know we have creative children and they love taking part!
Spooktacular Disco - another annual event, two discos for KS1 and KS2 to celebrate the spookiest time of the year and celebrate the end of the first half term of the school year.
Advent Raffle - every day of December, the Buddies are drawing a child from a raffle to win a selection box.

Pumpkin Decorating - October 2018
In conjunction with the school gardening club, the Buddies took part in the annual "Decorate a Pumpkin" event. This year it was especially well attended (more than a third of the school!) and there were some incredible designs. Well done to everybody who got involved.
Summer Fayre - July 2018
The Buddies helped the school office and others plan and execute the Summer Fayre. We raised the highest total ever raised in a single event at Blackwell - £700 - what an achievement!
Chocolate Bingo - April 2017
We raised the incredible total of £204.30 from the Buddies Chocolate Bingo - thank you so much for all of your support!
Valentine Disco - February 2019
Thank you to everybody who partied at our valentines disco! We made a great total of £185.91 for our school fund! Also - a very big thank you to Amy, Kelly, Sally and the other PTA members who organised and ran the disco for us!
Sponsor a Plant - March 2018
As part of the outdoor development project, everybody was given the chance to sponsor plant pots to home the many plants we had donated. We raised £100 towards the gardening club funds and these were used to purchase pots!
Fairy House and Bug Hotel painting - February 2018
As part of the outdoor development project, children were given the chance to sponsor a fairy house or bug hotel to go out in the secret garden on the school field. We made a fantastic £165 to go towards our outdoor space and soon-to-be-reestablished gardening club. As soon as the houses are varnished and made outdoor proof we will be setting up the new secret garden!
Eco Greenhouse - September 2018 onwards
The Buddies have, alongside Alfreton Rotary Club, worked to prepare bottles for the Eco Greenhouse to be sited on the school field. Work to build the greenhouse has now commenced and it is anticipated it will be complete before the end of the year.
Spooktacular Disco - October 2017
The Blackwell Buddies organised a very Spooktacular Disco and raised £230.40!
Macmillan Dress up and Dance - June 2018
In aid of Macmillan, the whole school took part in "Dress up and Dance". We all wore our sport kits and had a fun day raising money for a very worthy cause. We raised over £100 which is absolutely brilliant - well done to everybody who took part!
Spooktacular Disco - October 2018
The Blackwell Buddies organised a very Spooktacular Disco and raised £300!
Christmas Fayre - December 2018
The Blackwell Buddies organised our annual Christmas Fayre. We had our usual selection of stalls, Santas Grotto and lovely refreshments. We raised £600 for the school fund. Thank you to everybody who attended for their support.
Y6 SATs Breakfast - May 2018
Each day before SATs the Buddies cooked a different breakfast for our year 6 pupils to prepare them for their tests! We had a range of breakfasts including cooked food, cereals, fruit and a range of other items.
MacMillan Coffee Morning - October 2017
The Buddies raised the fantastic sum of £280.49 in aid of Macmillan!
A very big thank you to all our parents, carers and community members who contributed to the coffee afternoon and cake decorating competition - it was brilliant to see so many of you in school!
Valentines Disco - February 2017
The Blackwell Buddies organised a very special Valentine Disco for the whole school to enjoy! After working so hard through the term since Christmas it was great to have a party and see the children really enjoy themselves!
Thank you as always to the Buddies for giving up their time to organise and run the event, and for all the parents, carers and students for their support. A special thank you also to Mr Hill for being an awesome DJ - we loved the music!
Christmas Fayre - December 2017
The Blackwell Buddies organised the Christmas Fayre with lots of stalls, activities and special visitors. We had a great time and it was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and other family members in school.
Food for Life - September 2018
The Buddies took part in a Food for Life development meeting, which was also attended by representatives from Westhouses Primary School. They are proud to share their advice and best practice to help another school achieve their award, learn new skills and ultimately improve outcomes for all of our children.
