BLACKWELL PRIMARY SCHOOL

Four of our School Councillors - Megan, Ben, Chloe and Jack work with the 5 Pits Partnership. Each term our 4 school council members visit other schools to discuss issues and share ideas. Themes so far have been:

  • Getting to know each other – held at Tibshelf Secondary School
  • Why we are proud to be at our school – held at Blackwell Primary School
  • Anti-bullying Week and how we can promote equality and diversity – held at Shirland Primary School
  •  Consider identified school’s self-review written prior to initial visit
  •  Carry out diagnostic visits.
  •  Supply an in depth report focusing on the school’s current practice with proposed recommendations
  •  Write action plans, identifying key priorities and SMART targets within 10 days of being alerted.
  •  Provide one-to- one or group support.
  •  Offer coaching and mentoring support.
  •  Provide access to resources and training
  •  Offer cluster contribution towards the costs of raising standards within the setting
  •  Report the outcomes of the support to Governors
  •  Report to the cluster on grant spend, impact and outcomes at regular intervals

As a cluster, we firmly believe that the success of any partnership depends on maintaining high levels of trust with all partners. We work with any school within the cluster at risk of falling standards or who are encountering difficulty to identify appropriate strategies or interventions, sharing our expertise of having dealt with a similar situation in a different context. The ultimate aim will always be to contribute significantly to improving the outcomes for children through developing the capacity of leadership within the cluster.
