"Unlocking Potential, Providing Opportunities, Achieving Goals"
We are a busy school with lovely children and dedicated staff.
We actively encourage children to have a positive attitude and strive to create a love of learning by providing a wide range of opportunities within school. We praise and encourage perseverance, resilience and risk taking and ensure children have the confidence to make mistakes. We work hard to prepare our children to be happy, successful and responsible members of society in the future.
Safeguarding and the welfare of our children is a priority and we work with parents, carers and support agencies in an open and honest relationship to ensure children who attend Blackwell are well cared for and protected. Please do take a look at our keeping safe sections under the children and parent tabs and read our safeguarding policies for more information.
The website will provide you with information about school policies and procedures as well as an opportunity to see some of the exciting activities we take part in on a day to day basis.
Thank you for visiting!
Food for Life - Bronze Award!
Blackwell has officially achieved the Bronze Award for Food for Life. We have worked very hard to improve our awareness and opportunities for pupils to learn all about food, where it comes from and how to maintain sustainability. We will now be working hard towards our Silver Award and have a special Showcase Day planned on Monday 16th July.
Safeguarding is given the highest priority at Blackwell. There may be times when adults are concerned about children in the community. If so, then you can contact Derbyshire County Council Child Protection department on 01629 533190 or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Boswell and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Gardner.
Please don't ignore concerns;
Child protection is everyone's responsibility.
The Newton Carnival on Saturday 14th July was another great success, and we are thrilled to learn that our very own Blackwell Buddies won the float competition - well done to them!
Our Award Winning Catering Team
Congratulations to our school catering team who have won a Silver Award at the Derbyshire Catering Services Quality Assurance Awards 2018. This is great news and a fantastic way to celebrate the hard work of the team.
Summer Fayre - thank you
A big thank you to everybody in our school community for supporting our Summer Fayre. We raised the grand total of £670, all of which will be used for our school funds. Thank you for all of your support - it will make a real difference to the children!
