BLACKWELL PRIMARY SCHOOL
Free training and mentoring for local women
We’re on the look out for women of all ages from Blackwell and surrounding villages who want to take part in our new project: Lean On. We are creating a network of women who are interested in or are currently running their own businesses however big or small, and those who want to work creatively or in the community. You don’t need experience to access Mentors, a Weekend Residential and Group Discussions. Expect something a little different: more friendly likeminded groups getting creative than the cut-throat apprentice! "Unlocking Potential, Providing Opportunities, Achieving Goals"
Breaktime Mini-Garden Club
This term we will be running a mini garden club at morning breaktime on a Tuesday and Wednesday for Mr Hill's class. If your child would like to take part please can they bring a pair of wellies to keep in school.
We are a busy school with lovely children and dedicated staff.
We actively encourage children to have a positive attitude and strive to create a love of learning by providing a wide range of opportunities within school. We praise and encourage perseverance, resilience and risk taking and ensure children have the confidence to make mistakes. We work hard to prepare our children to be happy, successful and responsible members of society in the future.
Safeguarding and the welfare of our children is a priority and we work with parents, carers and support agencies in an open and honest relationship to ensure children who attend Blackwell are well cared for and protected. Please do take a look at our keeping safe sections under the children and parent tabs and read our safeguarding policies for more information.
The website will provide you with information about school policies and procedures as well as an opportunity to see some of the exciting activities we take part in on a day to day basis.
Thank you for visiting!
We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor at the school. If you would like to apply please call in to the school office for an application pack.
Coming soon - Volunteer Passport
After Easter we will be offering the "Volunteer Passport", open to all our parents, carers and volunteers who help us in school. This is a programme based around workshop activities and all participants gain a qualification at the end - more details coming soon!
Safeguarding is given the highest priority at Blackwell. There may be times when adults are concerned about children in the community. If so, then you can contact Derbyshire County Council Child Protection department on 01629 533190 or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Boswell and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Gardner.
Please don't ignore concerns;
Child protection is everyone's responsibility.

"Cook and Eat"
A big thank you to Angela Bebbington from Food for Life for running a "Cook and Eat" session for our parents. We made homemade vegetable soup and herby scones- they were delicious!
